FWIW my K2 #5665 -does- have the "birdie" zero beat at 3589 kHz.

I don't work 80 meters very often but I just checked my K2/100 and I have the very same strong birdie. I never noticed this before and have had the
radio for 4 years.  Let us know what you find out.

Thanks for alerting me this is not normal.

Yes, I do have enough savy to take the antenna off, and yes, even with a dummy load there is no difference. It is something internal in the K2/100.

If no one on the list has any idea what is causing it, I'll drop a note to Gary, Don, or one of the other Elecraft experts.
