The solution is really very simple. Just have a bank of K3's. One for each band of interest. With a switching arrangement to suit the operator. Hams can't leave everything up to the rig designers. Also, maybe the firmware download could have a menu, with user selectable features. One size fits all firmware can't please everyone.
