I finally decided to try to download for the first time the beta software
for my K3. So the problem begins.
When I copy and paste the URL for the download into my browser I
eventually get an error message "internet explorer can not display the
webpage" just like I would expect if my internet connection was down.
So do I have something not turned on for this download maybe?
Are you using a router maybe? Or a wireless access point that is doing NAT?
Take a look at the "advanced" tab of the "internet options" settings in
IE, whatever the IE version you are using.
This would be Tools -> Internet Options.
Make sure the passive mode has a check in it for FTP. Close IE, re-open
it, and see if it's working now.
Often times, active FTP mode won't work behind a router or access point,
or for other reasons. Let us know if this fixed your issue.
And, as was mentioned up the thread, IE (and Firefox, for that matter,
even with add-ons) are poor excuses for FTP clients. There are lots of
free alternatives out there that will do a lot better job of doing FTP
file transfers. You might want to install one of these FTP clients on
your system.
