Granted that the K3 is a very flexible radio, but I believe that all manufacturers design their radios to give good performance right out of the box. I think that optional settings are a matter of personal preference, so what works for you may not work for me. I know many operators who tweak all the available settings just because they can, and end up sounding worse than when they started. This applies to both receiver and transmitter. My suggestion (after many years on the air, and many rigs on the table): Get to know the un-tweaked radio first, then try the ones you feel you must, until you're satisfied, but be careful!
