Klaus,
Are you certain it is actually low audio? Or is it possibly low receive
gain (due to an earlier stage failure). One way to separate the two
possibilities is to observe the S-meter. If there is good S-meter
deflection, then the problem can be found in the product detector and
audio stages, but if the S-meter is not showing a good deflection, the
problem is prior to the product detector.
Nominal values for the receiver RF voltages can be found in Appendix E
of the manual. Connect an oscillator or signal generator to the antenna
and adjust the level as described and follow the steps in Receive Signal
Tracing.
