Rod (G3YHM) posted a message proposing a change to 3720 KHz to reduce continental QRM. Can I have the views of others as it makes no difference to me what the frequency is.

The original frequency of 3630 KHz was chosen so that we might have been able to run wider bandwidth modes such as AM and ESSB, both of which are available with the K3 provided it is fitted with the 6 KHz IF filter. There are so many stations on 80m between 0900 and 1000 on Sunday mornings that running such wide bandwidth is not desirable. Operating, or even testing, AM and ESSB higher in the band is not a good idea at any time. Note there are daily AM nets running on 3615 and 3625 KHz.

Options to consider are:

1. Stay put and operate at the same time.
2. Stay on the same area of the band and start an hour later for potentially less continental QRM.
3. Move higher in frequency at the same start time.
4. Move higher in frequency and start an hour later.

Can you e-mail me off the Reflector with your preferences and I'll see how it pans out. Regular net members views will be considered before others.
