So.. with the temp outside in the 70s, and no wind... partly cloudy skies... it
was a nice day, to spend, at the radio.. trying to get a WAS and a sweep..
well... neither one was readily available... at least with the conditions as
they were. However, and here is the good part... I had my K2 set up with three
antennas, and with the bands open, but long, this morning at 2 and again at
2... local time, I ran, with all 5 watts screaming out the antenna, holding the
freq rather nicely, and when the crowding began... the rx stayed right with me,
and only when the run faded because the crowd, was where? All over me... I
found as I opened the rx back up. ON top and on both sides. So.. I figured this
was a good time to go try it again.. and I did... and again.... and again.. on
80, and on 40.... then the true test... up on 20... down in the middle of KW
alley... here is the test that doesn't show on the bench... a rx that shows up
good on the bench is one thing.. altogether a different animal when it comes to
KW alley in the middle of SS... however... I found that actually putting the
pressure on the rx was a joy to watch and lisen to. No funny stuff, and the
constant pressure from the electric fence kept out by the nb, was also a joy.
No ill effects at all.
I knew the rx had nice specs.. proved it on the service bench. But putting it
into the fray at a full press, was fun.
How did it do? Well the op failed after about 18 hours... but it made over
300Qs and 72 Sections.... not a sweep, but popping through piles was a
breeze... and that is about 85% rx... and 15% antenna when they stack up that
deep.

No, didn't get WAS, missed it by ND, and DE... and a sweep was left out by a
handful of VEs missing. 6 maybe. anyway.. it was a blast,
Now, Thank you Elecraft... to put it the best way for the moment..
That was fun, and my head doesn't hurt.
