In K3 firmware revision 2.67 we introduced a new feature that may have some bearing on this issue: independent sub receiver antenna selection for diversity vs. non-diversity. It may have defaulted to AUX in either case. If you didn't have an antenna connected to the sub's AUX input, you would have no input signal for the sub receiver.

If you want the sub receiver to use share the MAIN antenna path, just go into BSET and tap ANT until you see MAIN. You can set this up differently for diversity and non-diversity use of the sub receiver. The K3 will store both settings.

A related feature also added in rev 2.67: if the sub receiver is turned on, holding RX ANT will alternate between AUX and MAIN for the sub's antenna. This is faster than using BSET.
