Correction - that should have been 2000 Hz instead of 200 Hz.
Most male voices I can hear fine, but for female and children's voices I
often mistake the words that sound similar. I had a lot of trouble
understanding the grandchildren until after I got the hearing aids.

Alan,
The K1 has lots of audio, so you don't really need extremely sensitive
headphones. Your question has a lot of 'individual preference'
content to it, but I will share mine.
I have the Sony MDR-CD60 headphones here and like them over any others
I have tried - they are quite comfortable and have great response for
my ham use. I bought them several years ago at Target or Wall Mart or
someplace like that (really can't remember).
I checked the web and found a source at
http://www.networksupplyinc.com/NEWproductslist/Specials/sonyheadset.htm.
I don't know if this is the best deal, and you are welcome to Google
on your own for further information. One site for audiophiles did not
seem to like them, but for my purposes, they are great and quite
comfortable.
One caveat - I wear hearing aids because of my high frequency hearing
loss (but below 200 Hz my hearing is normal). I usually listen using
speakers because I cannot use headphones over my hearing aids, but if
I take the aids off, these headphones are "just the thing" for me. YMMV.

I was searching the archives for suggestion for a good quality
portable headsets for the K1 taking into account
(1) good low end response, (2) comfortable to wear for a few hours
and (3) good volume and (4) good sensitivity.
Many of the "stereo" headsets are about 32 ohm and not sure if that
rules these out performance wise.
I am trying to avoid buying 4 or 5 sets and hoping to gain from the
