Good Evening!
First off: the time changes have worked. I get just enough time to fix some
leftovers and eat between nets. If the first one gets any longer I'll be stuck
eating a sandwich. I used to eat a very nice meal prepared by Pat. Then that
changed to me fixing myself a nice meal. Now I will see how this works until
the seasons give me a chance to get back to normal ;)
Second: thank you to Rick, KL7CW, for his relay help twice today; once on
either net. Conditions were good enough between us that his assistance was
available and appreciated. At first he was weak but as the first net
progressed he got stronger. On forty meters he was very strong into Buxton.

It was nice to hear Dick, W0NTA, again. I had read of his QNI on the voice
net earlier in the day. I did not know he owned a microphone :) Yes, I have
one, it gets used solely for ECOM work since they frown on me using my paddles
:( They are trying to lead me down a very dark path however; tomorrow I will
be handed a TNC and will be expected to know how to use it soon. Woe is me!
What is the world coming to?
The weather is getting brisk. The wind is howling and the snow is falling.
But, I am nowhere near the temperatures listed by Ken, W0CZ, or Rick, KL7CW, or
even Pete, W6ZH. I am at 20 degrees right now but it looks like the rest of
the week will be filled with rain. Hopefully that will give me a chance to do
some much needed antenna repair work. I tried to fix one of them yesterday but
the guy lines were frozen in place. Earlier in the week it was pouring which
also prevented me from soldering the broken antenna. I could have dropped it
but that one crosses the one which is tangled in the branch but is still
working. Maybe this next week will allow me to get both antennas repaired and
back in their usual places.
Until next week stay warm,
73,
Kevin. KD5ONS (Net Control Operator 5th Class)
