Randy, There is nothing wrong with using a stereo plug on both ends. You can use an already constructed (purchased) stereo cable - the connector in the K3 is stereo, but wired for mono (that is nothing connected to the ring), so you will not be shorting the soundcard output. If you build your cable, you may wire just the tip and the sleeve. The tip is normally the left channel and the ring is the right channel.
