The SoftRock receivers and LP-Pan operate much the same way. They are fixed frequency downconverters that provide I/Q audio outputs. The I/Q audio is then applied to a common soundcard. The higher quality soundcards provide a wider frequency "window" (higher sample rates), lower noise floor/higher dynamic range, and better image rejection (better I/Q balance). 73, ...
