Bill, Make sure the settings in your K3 match what you're telling N1MM to do. When I've run into such a problem it was due to a mismatch.
I think my K3 is set DTR-RTS (not in front of the radio, so don't take this as gospel). Crank down the power, or go to test mode. It will save you from ummm any unfortunate transmissions.
