Sounds like it's time for me to repost this link to my favorite article about amateur wiring, solder and crimping :-)
http://www.dimebank.com/misc/soldered_connections.html I (almost) never use the ubiquitous insulated terminals that are intended to be crimped once, crushing and uglifying the plastic sleeve in the process. I pull the stupid sleeve, use a heavy duty crimper (I have appropriate dies for my West Mountain crimper), and put on a layer or two of heat shrink to stabilize the joint. If I expect the connection to be out in the weather, I lightly solder the open end to avoid moisture entering the crimp. Even if it's airtight, it can't hurt. 73 de chris K6DBG ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
