Good morning all , I have a problem with firmware upload to my K3. All I can load is MCU. The FBF fails at load address x0040. I have used two different computers using both a 9 pin straight through and the KUSB. I have the latest K3 utility. When loading from a past configuration I receive an error message Verify Failed at EEPROM address 131.224 I have corresponded with Gary at Elecraft several times and did check those items he suggested. As of yet , Gary's suggestion have not worked. I have yet to get a full firmware download. Does anyone have suggestions for me to check or does the radio have a problem and need to go back for repair at Elecraft?
Thank you Glenn K5ZE Glenn, This may sound strange but I had a similar problem about a month or so ago on my K3, Serial #386. I tried everything and was convinced that the K3 was headed to Aptos. Conversations with Gary did not help either. In frustration, I shut the rig down. I came back the next morning and thought I would give it one more try. To my utter amazement, I was able to reload the firmware successfully and as it was reloading, I could hear my K3 coming back to life. After the firmware reload, everything was fine. I contacted Gary and he said it could have been due to an overheating condition in the Front Panel and, that letting the K3 cool down completely was the cure.
