Jim, It is better to use the approximate ship date posted on the Elecraft website listing of K3 Mods and Enhancements. There can be a serial number differences between the factory ship K3s and the kit versions - the factory built K3 are at the factory longer after the serial number has been assigned, so the ship date is a better reference.
