I'm running FW 3.03 right now [just haven't gotten around to upgrading].
Possibly I'm missing something, but my RX Eq settings persist across
mode changes. Is there a way to have separate settings for CW and SSB?
I'm fairly deaf, the result of very loud noises in my 20's, and the RX
Eq actually makes SSB semi-usable for me. I set the lower ranges to
negative values and the higher bands to positive values, sort of
mimicking what my hearing aids do. The 32 dB [-16 to +16] isn't enough
... I need about 75dB at 2 KHz ... but it's better than nothing.

For CW, I set all but the range that covers my sidetone to -16 and that
one range to +16. Unfortunately, I have to reset it each time when I
change modes.
