Terry, The light blockers should ideally stick to the board. If that is not possible, they should stick to the switch substrate (as close to the board as possible. The purpose is to block the light escaping from the ends of the LCD assembly, so if you get them into position at the ends of the LCD in any way that makes them stay there, it is correct, and will provide the proper function. Do not push them down too low - the top surface should be flush with the top of the LCD.
