Hi Thomas, AM wide limit is about 4,2kHz but this equals roughly 8,4kHz BW in a conventional receiver (measuring carrier and 2 flanks within the filter) I personally think even for pleasant BC receiving (without 5kHz next-channel-heterodynes), future AM-sync or ESSB this should be wide enough. Widening even more may have consequences for internal aliasing-suppression and me not make things better. It may also put a lot of extra strain on DSP horsepower, which could also be used for other things.
