I'll take that a few steps further. N1MM can do SO2R with SSB and RTTY from a single computer that has two serial ports -- IF you set RTTY up for AFSK and use VOX rather than PTT. That's what I do, and it works quite well. N1MM does NOT work for CW SO2R using two serial ports, or even four serial ports, from the same computer. It has to do with the way they send CW. Two good ways to do it, depending on your resources. The method they recommend is with a WinKey keyer. Easy to build, inexpensive. I bought one, haven't used it yet. The second way that works (for me, at least) is with two computers, networked, each with a single serial port. The N1MM folks will tell you this is "not supported." There are tutorials on my website about how to reliably interface rigs and computers without hum and buzz, using nothing more than wires. No transformers, no interface boxes. http://audiosystemsgroup.com/HamInterfacing.pdf http://audiosystemsgroup.com/RFI-Ham.pdf You can, of course, get much fancier, especially with control of your headphones. 73, Jim Brown K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
