Firstly, thanks to all who responded to my original "dilemma" about keying the K3 on FD. The only reason I was interested in the FJP pgm, was our club uses it for field day. It IS cool for the multiplier map which colors in the new sections worked. It makes things interesting after the 1/2 way point of the FD test, especially after midnite, hi. I was brought up with paper logs & dupesheets, and when CT came along, it was fantastic. The pgm that changed contesting. After returning from 10+ years of being off the air from home, I was introduced to FJP on FD with the local club. I didn't realize its limitations. Besides, it appears the CW is inferior anyway, and I would not use anything with inferior CW capability. I now find out that CT is where it was when it came out, and N1MM is the next generation, with a push by K1EA when he introduced CT. I have in the last few days downloaded N1MM and have it working with the K3 without much problem and am planning to try things out this weekend in CQMM. The CW keys the K3 just like I do with the internal keyer of the K3 which, by the way, is everything I require of my keying preferences, which are at the top of my preference list for the only mode that keeps me a ham. Anybody can talk into a mike, but don't get offended by that statement please. I even enjoy yaking on SSB a few times a year. Thanks again for the replies to my info request. Things seem to be working just like I wanted when I bought the K3 a week and a half ago. I think I have come a long way in re-establishing my love of ham radio and having a rig that makes it everything it is supposed to be. CU on the bands. Just don't expect to hear me on ssb too much, hi. THANK YOU ELECRAFT FOR DESIGNING THE K3!!! I realize this is considered OT? but I can't help it. I have been like a kid with new bike since UPS delivered this fabulous piece of ham radio history.
