Hi Bill If you find out that the K3 is most stable near the middle or top of its power range, you could insert a homebrew power attenuator between the K3 and your amp. That would let the K3 run at its optimum power for stability and still keep the power within the input limits for your external amp.
Plus, having a clearly resistive load might contribute to greater power output stability for the K3. Good luck and 73 Bob N6WG ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bill Miner" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, May 19, 2009 12:41 PM Subject: [Elecraft] K3 Output Power Question Hello Elecrafters, I would like to know how stable the output power of the 10 watt K3 is when set to true QRP levels. I'm asking because my K2 power setting is not very accurate when I try to set it to anything much less than 5 watts. Would it be possible to safely drive an external amplifier that requires 1 watt maximum drive? Thanks & 73, Bill - K6WLM KX1 K2 K3 (soon!) ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
