On the Stainless Screws, a Black Magic Marker does wonders. Use a piece of Styrofoam to push the screws into, and give the heads a few coats.
It is a renewable process that can be repeated every time they are removed. David KD4NUE > Thanks to Bob MD0CCE for his efforts on Topband! He made quite a few guys happy in spite of the seasonal QRN at this time of the year. I haven't tried these myself but found the following on McMaster-Carr's website: http://www.mcmaster.com/#96640a054/=20zftu P/N 96640A054 18-8 SS (Stainless Steel) Flat Head Phillips Machine Screw Black-Oxide Finish, 4-40 Thread, 1/4" Length, Packs of 100 $3.59 Pack The standard Elecraft screws are 3/16" but I believe these 1/4" might work (someone else please comment if not). Unfortunately the Black-Oxide finish is not available in 3/16" stainless. If these will work, hopefully Elecraft might offer them in a small quantity as spare parts. 73, Bill -- View this message in context: http://n2.nabble.com/Case-screws-rusting-tp2968823p2969712.html Sent from the [K3] mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
