> Here is a few battery suggestions for your portable K1 station. For several years, I've used various 12VDC gel cells with reasonably good success. To better deal with the voltage drop issue over the course of long weekend operations, I've switched to a +14.4VDC portable battery pack from Bescor.
http://www.bescor.com/Export8.htm My K1 and other QRP rigs perform better over the long-term with the slightly elevated voltage. Another option is to use a 12VDC gel cell with a DC-DC switching converter as a battery booster to keep battery voltage at or above 12V as the battery terminal voltage falls below 12V. I've not been too impressed with the RFI immunity from DC-DC converters, so that was not a viable option for me. I'm sure there are some boosters that can be purchased with good RFI abatement but for me, that takes too much time in testing and evaluating.
