I've looked.  The problem is in getting more than 100 uF of C in the given 
PCB real estate with SMT components.  At 220-330 uF, radial caps are 
required, unless Elecraft was to redesign the PCB.

As much as I like the new low-end warmth, I'm in the minority.  Many folks 
detest bass response in a communications receiver and I completely respect 
that.  In all fairness to Elecraft, I wouldn't change the PCB layout to 
accommodate the caps unless it was part of some other re-design work.
