That will allow you to run the K2 in a power stable range while driving the transverter. If you insist on using a lower input to the K144XV, I recommend you look at an old mod by WJ4P. That mod reduces the range for the power control to 1/10 the normal range See http://www.madisoncounty.net/~kj5tf/K2mWmod.htm. If the power range is reduced tenfold, the power stability should increase tenfold in the process. There are also application notes on the Elecraft website that deal with milliwatting the K2.
