Enter the contests and you might just be surprised. Sometimes a category (QRP, single-band, etc.) won't have a lot of competition (or even any!) and I've picked up a lot of unexpected wallpaper that way. My very first contest (1953 WWDX, CQ didn't sponsor it that year) resulted in a certificate with less than 700 points and I have some with even lower totals.
