Hi Dave: Don't rule out the dishwasher if you're lucky enough to have one. When we moved into our new home it took us weeks to track down a beeping that occurred after we went to bed. I changed all the smoke detector batteries, contacted the alarm company to check the trouble log, turned off both of our computers before bed, and finally accidentally discovered it to be the new GE dishwasher. It beeps at the end of its cycle.

I notice every now and then, it gives a double beep.
