Hi Terry, I've only noticed this if the gate is set "too close" to the background noise. Imho, with a noise gate you want to set it as "high" as possible without causing pronounced clipping or shortening of spoken syllables. What you are likely to be hearing are spikes in the background noise, which cause the noise gate to open for a short fraction of a second.
