Was doing some thinking during the NAQP CW contest this weekend - dangerous,
I know. I'd like to dabble with SO2R "extra lite", just to pick up an
additional mult from time-to-time. Don't really want to get into the
complexity and expense of SO2R software, interconnections and 2nd
transceiver.

What I had in mind was to monitor the second band with a separate receiver
and antenna - maybe an SDR - with just an earbud stuffed into one ear. For
example, when running on 20 with the K3, I could be searching 15 for missing
mults while the CQ is in process. If I find one, it would be really slick
if I could dial in the frequency on the K3 VFO B. Then at the opportune
time, switch the K3 to 15, press A/B and give him a call. Two button
presses. Only one to go back to my 20 meter frequency. (when contesting I
have the unused bands mapped out). The logging software should track this
w/o any difficulty.

I understand the limitation of the K3 of receiving on two different bands
due to the lowpass filtering, but I'm not asking for that. Just would like
a way to set the VFO B in advance so that it is ready to go when I do the
band switch, saving lots of time.

I admit to no knowledge of SO2R, so I could be all wet. I also could be
opening up a can of worms and/or Pandora's box. But I do know that there
are several very experienced people on this list about both SO2R and the K3
design, and would be interested in their feedback.
