I've just tried this with the new utility (and f/w 3.25). After running the gain calibration and then calibrating SMTR OF and SMTR SC, the K3 S-meter did give remarkably accurate readings. My K3 gives S9 = -73 dBm, S9+20 = -53 dBm, S9+40=-33 dBm and S9+60=-13 dBm. Equally it is giving 6 dB per S point below S9 down to S3 at -109 dBm. I only checked my K3 on 80m but it's darn good. Mine is calibrated without the pre-amp in use and on CW.
It needs clarifying that the gain calibration does not in itself calibrate the S-meter. 73 Dave, G4AON K3/100 #80 ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
