As a "southpaw" myself, I also learned to send using a Bug right handed, but
that was because I often operated at other installations on ships and
military stations (and the occasional Field Day setup) that had a
right-handed bug set up on the table.   

Like you, the ability to make notes with my left hand while sending with my
right hand is very nice.  

Besides, left-handed bugs, while available, were *expensive* back in the
1950's!

And I find that sending while writing is very handy.
