There are NO ideals.  Every mic and voice are different.

Follow the manual as for as ALC readings are concerned.  On  
compression, less is better than more -- although I have to admit,  
that you can push the K3 compression pretty hard before you start  
sounding like a South American contester.  Still, less is better.  But  
there's an indicator, and manual recommendations for that as well.  EQ  
is just too much related to mic.voice to believe that anyone else's  
settings are going to match you needs.  Use the monitor, get on-air  
comments.

The other guy's great sounding settings may well leave you sounding  
like a castrated hamster at the bottom of a 55 gallon drum.   I'm not  
terribly sure what that would sound like, but it's probably not good :-)
