Brian, What is the chance that you did some SWLing and tuned downward fro 40 meters to 5.975 - and subsequently either powered off or changed bands? The K3 dutifully remembers your last used frequency on "40 meters". Try doing a Direct Frequency Entry to get things back within the real 40 meter band spectrum.
