Frank,
I am unable to fully understand your e-mail. I use a K9AY with my K3
for 160 Meters and also listen with it on 80M and 40m, which are bands I am
not active on but monitor from time to time. I find the K9AY gives me an
average 15 dB front to back ratio on 160M. I have not noticed too much of
an improvement in Signal to Noise Ratio but the antenna is a great help in
contests when working the western hemisphere as it attenuates our fellow EU
stations. I also use it in listening to stations in other directions and
find the front to back a help. As I live in a rural location it may be
that the improvement in SNR is not as great as it would be in a more built
up area.

You need the converter board in your K3 to have a separate receiver
input. I assume you have this. You may need a good separation between TX
and RX antennas to use the K9AY for break in operation. In my case the
separation is 60 M and I have no problems. Hope you find the K9AY works
well for you. If you have any further problems perhaps you might try to
better explain them. All the best with luck I will work you in CQWW this
weekend. That is if I can get my inverted L up and running. Life is good
or should perhaps one say life is sweet to avoid the commercial boys with
their Tee Shirts.
