Your vision of the delivery timing in France doesn't match at all my own experience. My K3, sent at 4 p.m. local time in California, has been delivered by UPS 2 days later, 9 a.m. Paris time. Smaller items, sent by Aptos through the US Mail, have always (4 or five times) arrived in less than 1 week.
