In fact Skimmer like any other program would have trouble connecting to the K3 while HRD or anything else was running, unless you were running a serial port splitter like VSPE or LP-Bridge which I feel sure you're not.
Either you've got the wrong settings or Skimmer doesn't like your USB to serial adapter. I can't think of any other explanation. It certainly would be worth trying LP-Bridge as that would (or at least should - I don't use HRD or LP-Bridge so I've never tried it) let you use Skimmer and HRD at the same time, which I imagine would be quite useful. ----- Julian, G4ILO.
