Jack, The advantage to using DATA A mode is that the compression is set to zero and the Equalization is turned off. If you are also using SSB and have compression set for SSB and/or are using equalization for normal (speech) SSB mode, then it will be an advantage for you to use DATA A instead of SSB. If you never use a microphone with the K3, then you will find no difference.
