Manolo, Choose the largest 12 to 14 volt battery that you are willing to carry along - if the sun is shining, you may want to extend the operating time by adding a solar panel to the battery to keep the charge level up.
The K3 draws about 900 ma. on receive, and the current will be more when transmitting - the transmit current depends on the power level you have set. You can calculate your operating time on any battery by referring to the Amp/Hour rating of the battery - you will likely be able to use it for about 1/3 of the AH rating - when the battery drops to about 11 volts, you should stop using it until re-charged. Keep the power setting low to extend your operating time.
