Duane, That information has been superseded. There was a lot of activity "way back when" to reduce the filter 'blowby'. Since that time there have been several changes in the filter - the filter crystals were spec'ed better between Elecraft and their crystal vendor (started with SN 2560), the crystals are now grounded near the base and on both sides of the crystal body. In addition winding ratio of transformer T7 was changed to better match the IF amplifier input to the crystal filter. All of these things contribute to a better CW filter in the K2. I would not apply any of the old remedies on a new K2. If you have an older K2, then first bring it up to the current level crystals and grounding and check/change the T7 winding ratio. Then you will be in a position to experiment a bit if you want to make it better.
