LS, That test is *only* to test the functionality of the counter probe - the reading will always be close to 4 MHz. Do not be concerned about the exact reading - if it reads FAR from 4 MHz, that is a problem. After you have the K2 fully assembled and want to do a good job of dial calibration and filter alignment, that is when you need to be concerned about setting the 4 MHz reference properly (may not be exactly 4 MHz). Use the procedure and tools that I mention in my website article on K2 Dial Calibration - www.w3fpr.com.
