Ummm, if this is a real issue for some operators (and not a theoretical issue), it would seem the problem could easily be resolved with an audio transformer.
RadioShack sells one for $2.99. They don't publish the specs in enough detail to tell for sure, but it has a number of taps on the secondary, and would appear to be able to transform the impedance of most headphones into the K3's "sweet spot." Am I missing something here? a small project box with the transformer enclosed and phone jacks in and out ought to do the trick.
