I can't imagine NOT using a computer during a contest! I've been using Thinkpads with logging software to control at least five different models of radios, send CW, play SSB messages, send and decode RTTY for six years. For the first few years I used WriteLog, switched to N1MM 2-3 years ago. Both of these programs will stop sending their pre-programmed message if you hit escape. I use VOX in both SSB and RTTY modes, so the K3 stops transmitting. I work 20-30 contests a year, and I have NEVER used any interface more complicated than a serial cable and simple audio connections between radio and computer. For radios other than the K3, I added the a simple NPN interface to invert the CW keying line. 73, Jim K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
