Essentially if you have an antenna that is resonant on 20 but you have to tune it to make it work on 40 then you can have the ATU bypassed on 20 but enabled on 40. When you're on 40 it will automatically recall the settings on a per band/antenna basis but it will also remember that on 20 you wan the ATU out of line. Even cooler is that you can still have it remember tune settings on 20 so that when you kick it back in line poof its still got the recalled settings there. Just like it should. :)
