I apologize if this has been answered before. What's the mathematical difference between AGC DCY = 'Nor' and 'Soft'?
My ears hear this: 'Nor' sounds like a linear return to normal gain while 'Soft' sounds like an x-squared or x-cubed curve back to normal gain, because the beginning of the curve sounds kind of like a hang time. Do they both end up at the same gain point in the same amount of time, just different trajectories to that point? Or is it more complex (or simpler) than that? I love 'Soft'... it makes it possible to use fast AGC on SSB signals without suffering the least amount of pumping as with the usual fast AGC on other rigs. In fact you don't feel like you're hearing the AGC of the receiver at all. It's wonderful, and a brilliant invention. Congratulations to the inventor(s).
