The proper termination of a cable shield is ALWAYS the chassis. It's possible to solder to DB15 and DB9 shells, but it can be a bit tricky. You must first find a point where a wire to the shell will allow the connector cover to fit (usually at a corner), tin that point (and perhaps scrape non-solderable coating from it) and leave some solder on it, shape the shield wire carefully to fit with the connector cover, then solder it. 73, Jim Brown K9YC ______________________________________________________________ Elecraft mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/elecraft Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected] This list hosted by: http://www.qsl.net Please help support this email list: http://www.qsl.net/donate.html
