For months I wondered why medium strength CW-signals showed up quite well on my K3's S-meter whereas strong signals never went past the S-9 mark. Something wrong with my 400 Hz roofing filter? Then, one day, i noticed that I had switched the CWT function on. I turned it off, and presto: S-9 plus!!! FWIW.
