David,

Consider setting up your own private wireless point to point network 
using Part 15 Ethernet devices working in the 2.4 GHz band.  There are 3 
channels within the 2.4 GHz amateur band, and that allows you to legally 
use amplifiers if necessary to establish the link.
That does work best if you have a line-of-sight path.  See

I have not tried it, I am just passing along information that I have run 
across.
