I took my KX1 outside to see if I could track down a router-ish noise on 20m, and when I couldn't I switched to 30M as I was using a 30M MFJ short loaded whip. I heard SM4OTI booming in. I put the KX1 on top of the car for ground and gave Steve a call, but no joy. I came inside and got an "QRZ 5N" answer with 5W from my K3 and SteppIR short dipole, and completed the QSO with 25W.
So maybe the solar flare is clearing!
