I often use a footswitch to hold the PTT closed during an over, mostly to stop
my clunky old
amplifier dropping out until the end of the over. However if I release the PTT
footswith while
still sending CW (relying on the rig's VOX to continue holding the PTT), the K3
drops part of the
morse character being sent and blanks the sub-VFO display briefly.

Can anyone else replicate this? [If you don't have a footswitch, I guess the
microphone PTT or
front panel XMIT button will have the same effect.]

It only seems to happen if I release the PTT at the very instant the rig is
sending: if I'm careful,
I can release the PTT in between characters with no ill effects.
